County Fairs are over in Michigan for another season. Ours is the biggest and the last. It ran from Sept 21-27.
It is also a 4H fair which means there are lots of animals, vegetables etc. that the kids have done. There is something for everyone.
I have been working at it for 24 years mostly in security. And my husband has for 26 years. We worked it again this year.
I love seeing all the people that I only see once a year, due to the fact that some are from other states and come back each year. But I put in long hours as I get there at 7:30 am and don’t leave until after 9:00pm most times.
This year my husband and I worked together and were lucky enough to be near our truck. I say lucky because I was able to have a ‘tailgate sale’. I set up my pendants, earrings and other polymer clay items on our tailgate. I also ran a fair week 1/2 off special on my buttons. It turned out pretty good. I made a few sales, got a few orders and got paid for being there. haha
I could not have afforded to rent a booth and probably would not have gotten one anyway as most if not all are already spoken for, years ahead of time.
We had beautiful weather, in the mid to upper 70’s all week during the day, upper 50’s at night and not a drop of rain. Here in lower Michigan at this time of year you never know what kind of weather you will have. The week after we had upper 50’s and lower 60’s and 2 nights we had frost already. The leaves are turning such beautiful colors.
On top of all that I got to see my oldest son, daughter-in-law, grandsons and granddaughter, that week. Not as much as I would have liked but that was the only time they were able to come up from Kentucky (granddaughter is from Michigan). I don’t get to see them often, so any time I get to is nice.
Do any of you go to the County Fair? When is yours? Now did you spend that week?
I hope everyone had as good of a week as I did. See ya tomorrow. I will be talking about Etsy.

Boy I didn’t realize it had been so long since I did anything on here. I have been so busy. I took a week-end vacation with my daughter and visited my youngest son. That was a good time I had not seen him in a year so it was nice.
My Daughter-in-law and her two boys came for a visit. I had not seen the new baby. He is now 8 months old and just the cutest. Her oldest is just turned 3 years. My do they ever change when you don’t get to see them very often.
I added some new software to my pc. I have had it for a while but never downloaded it. Boy am I glad I did. It is photosuite5 by Roxio. And it offers so much more than the HP photosmart that I usually use. This one has borders, frames, edges and some awesome editing. You can even remove wrinkles!!! I have been having fun with that today. Now I have a couple new pictures to put in my flickr account.
I think I mentioned that I was working on a pendant inspired by a painting called Four Winds. While I put some pictures of that in my flickr I am still working on it but I thought I would show some of it anyway.
I also found a cool tutorial on abalone and made a cane of that and have done a few things with it. I have pictures of those also but like the pendant they are works in progress.
I did manage to make and finish a Bottle of Hope for my daughters Mother-in-law. She loves Great Danes so that is what I made for her. It is bigger than the usual BOH I used an empty white diamonds perfume bottle because I wanted the height. I think it turned out pretty good. I have put those pictures in my flickr also.
I received an email from a friend of mine the other day with some pictures from a crayola crayon artist. His name is Don Marco. He does some of the most awesome pictures I have ever seen. I had to find his whole web site so went looking around today and I found it here. http://www.themastercrayonartist.com/shop/custcat.aspx
I just love American Indian stuff and western and he has quite a few on his site. He also sells them. I hope you enjoy looking around his site as much as I did. His works are way to expensive for me to buy so I will just have to bookmark his site and go back to it often. His is a remarkable story also.
Well until the next time have a happy clay-zie day everyone.

Every week or so I tell myself I am going to get better at this blogging stuff. It just hasn’t happened yet.Life always seems to get in the way. I haven’t done much of anything for almost a month, on here or anywhere. I was sick and then had surgery, which lead to an infection. That really took a toll on me. I was suppose to start feeling better almost right away ,but one thing lead to another, first the surgery was more involved than it was suppose to be and then the infection.
I am feeling much better now and hopefully will finaly be able to take care of this site the way I want to and get some claying done too. I have a few ideas of some new things I would like to make.
I know a women who owns a greenhouse and sells flowers and plants for a few weeks in the summer starting around Mothers Day. She has asked me to make some items to put with her flowers. So I am going to make little plant pokes and critters and things to sit on the edge of the pots. Problem is I have something wrong with my one figner and have to wear a bandage so I can’t work with my clay. I know ,I know I could wear gloves but I just can’t work with gloves on so I will just wait.
Spring has finally come to Mi. and I love it. This is my favorite time of year. The grass is getting green and the flowers are poppong up out of the ground after a lonnng winters nap. Things are new and alive. And the colors are starting to show up. Nature is such an inspiration that I can’t wait to start creating again.
I do, do some knitting and have been working on a few things but even that was hard to do for a while there. I looked through a lot of magazines while I was sick and that help to inspire me also. Also there are so many great artist on the web that I could spend all day just looking around and never see the same page twice. I have seen some really nice sites in the last few days that I will be talking about tomorrow. Maybe I will have some that you haven’t seen before.
So until tomorrow have a Happy Clay Day.

I have been sitting here at my computer for a while now looking around at the different sites I like to visit. I could spend all day just looking at all the talent out there. But I must get busy and update my Etsy account. I have a few new things I would like to add. I am going to get them all ready today and start putting a few on there everyday. I have had a few people conv me on different things I have so I think Etsy will be my way to go for awhile. I still have the two stores locally I have items in and they seem to be doing ok but I want more. LOL Isn’t that like everyone? We all want more.
While I was looking around I ran across this nice poem for St. Pat’s day that I would like to send to all of you.
I am off to get Etsy work done so on leaving I am sending you this poem. Enjoy.
May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you
May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks.
May your heart be as light as a song.
May each day bring you bright happy hours,
That stay with you all year long.
For each petal on the shamrock
This brings a wish your way
Good health, good luck, and happiness
For today and every day.
May the leprechauns be near you,
to spread luck along your way
And may all the Irish angels
smile upon you this St. Patrick’s Day.
I can not take credit for this as I said it was online and I thought it was real nice. May you all have a nice day.

Mother Nature is being nice to us today. The temp. is 57 and the sun is out. I went out and put plastic eggs in my tree for Easter. This is the firat time I have felt like being outside other than to just get in the truck and go. I got my front porch cleaned off from winter clutter. I know it is not here for long so I am going to enjoy it well I can. Ya”ll have a good day and I hope you are having good weather too.

I live in Mich and we have had the loooongest winter we have had in a long time. We no sooner get all the snow gone and we get hit again. We now have 6″ on the ground and were under another winter storm watch had could bring another 8-12″. My DH just came in and said we are no longing under that warning. Hurray!!!!!I am ready to go out and buy a full spectrum light-bulb just so I can get the sun light that I so desperately need.I have been going through winter depression! Hopefully things will change soon and we will see Spring…
Things are looking up as far as my clay. I had sent out some letters this week through some of the groups I am on and got back a letter from a lady asking me to bring some of my stuff in to her store to sell. That makes me feel really good. Don’t know how it will turn out but just getting my stuff out in the public is a help. So now I have two places locally that I sell thru. With different things in each one.
Also I am getting ready to teach a class. And hopefully that will be the start of something bigger too. I don’t have any room at my home to have a class so I am looking into some place that might let me use their extra room.
I have been really business getting ready for my class. I have to go 45 miles to a store (Micheal’s) that sells polymer clay, so I haven’t had time to look around online but hopefully I will be able to post to my faves over the week-end.

Today I went to Contariwise ramblings blog , Anne Gill http://akacontrariwise.blogspot.com/ I ran across this site while surfing around. This lady has a lot of useful info on selling on Etsy. She offers quite a few different sites where you can see her work. She has an Etsy shop, flickr photos,a spot on DeviantArt. Her articles are well written and the photos are clear. She does some amazing work sterling silver . If you get the time( and it will take a while) you should check her out. It will be well worth your time. She also has a great list of Search Engines where you can list your site for free. I’m on my way to check them out myself. I really enjoyed her site and spent a lot of time just looking around and checking out all the different sites she talks about. All in all this is a must see blog.

WOW here it is the 2nd of March. It has been a while since I added anything to this site. I wish I could say it was because I have been so busy but alas I haven’t been that busy. Just didn’t have anything much to say.
I did start making buttons out of polymer clay for my local quilt shop and haven’t been doing do bad. I have made a few sales.
We have been having so much snow that I haven’t been over to visit them in a while. We now have a record amount of snow for this time of year. About 8-10″ is still on the ground and they are talking more about Tues or Weds. I sure am ready for Spring and lots of Sunshine.
I do have a polymer clay class coming up on March 11. I will be teaching 27 girl scouts. Ranging in age from 6-11. We will be making book marks with pendants hanging from them. There are a couple pic of ones I have made in my flickr photos. Although we may have to make them a little different to fit the abilities. But I think it will be a fun time. It will be my first class so I am a little nervous. I plan on taking lots of pics and will post here.
I have been looking around at some real intereting sites. I could lose myself for days just looking at the different sites. We sure have a lot of talented people out there. I will be posting to my faves page soon with some of my favorite sites and why I liked them. So check back soon.

Well here it is the start of a new year. I hope ya’ll started out well. May you have a good healthy & blessed year.Last year was good for me in a few ways. I was given a great gift–a new grandson, I heard from an Aunt whom I haven’t heard from in 10+ years, got in touch with 2 of my other grandkids I haven’t seen in 2 years and got a little closer to my daughter. I am very thankful. I feel you should start each new year thankful for the last one, that gives you a good start for the new one. This is the year of the Rat (other years of the rat area 1936-1948-1960-1972-1984 & 1996 ) This means this is my year!! Anyone else out there a Rat?
“The Rat holds thirft as their virtue, and are highly social, quick witted & optimistic about life. Although sometimes inpulsive and slightly over sensitive about situations, but when work is put into change this year, obstacles become merely stepping stones to success.”
Here’s to all us Rats!! I have a lot of plans for this year and I’m going to achieve all that I can. Get ready, work hard and win. I know I’m going to.
