I started selling buttons at a local quilt store just after Christmas and things are going pretty good. I have not sold a lot but have had a lot of feed back and it is all good. I have gotten some ideas most were good ones. I really get excited when I go in there, these gals are so nice and really like my work. The owner and her helper is always coming up with ways for me to show my stuff at the store. They have been a big help to me so far. Hopefully we will be able to help each other. In my local advertising I make mention of the shop which helps them too.
I live in a small town. That can be good and it can be bad. The good is that word of mouth is easy to get around fast and if it is good you can see the effects quickly. But then on the down side it is hard to get started in a new business if you have not been here for ever. I love small town living but it does have its draw backs.I am hoping to branch out a little and start making covered tins with matching pins inside. And other items that quilter would be interested in.
In the last post that I wrote, I said I had some things I wanted to do this year, well this is one of them. I want to start a business, making things for quilters, then branch out from there.
I have been reading a lot about small business, and need to keep doing that, I have a lot to learn. I am adding a new page to this site, My Faves, it will have a list of sites that I have visited, what I learned from them, what I liked about them, and ideas that I received from them. I hope you will check it out and get some good ideas of your own.
By the way I would like you to look at the dragon I designed and made for my grandson. His birthday is this Sat. and he likes dragons so now he has one of his own. He is turning 7. It should be the first pic. on the flickr side bar, if not you can check it out on my flickr account. Along with the new buttons I have made. I am still working on getting some really good pics but I’m sure you can see what they look like.
